Even if you wanted the rig in the garage, the tent has nowhere to live indoors. So it stays on the roof — through Monday commutes, through fuel-mileage hits, through every "should we go this weekend" that ends in "let's just stay home."
The problem isn't one thing. It's a stack: removal is hard, storage is harder, reinstall pushes the next trip past "worth it." Each piece feeds the next. None of it changes until the whole sequence works.
The whole sequence, in one bundle
The removal. The Slipstream Quick-Release Mounts release the tent off the vehicle in less than 60 seconds with no tools. When it’s time to mount back up, fixed alignment puts the tent in the same position every time. One customer went from thirty minutes and a buddy to three minutes completely solo.
From there, the tent goes straight up.
The storage. The Flexispot 4 × 4 ft Ceiling Hoist lifts up to 300 pounds evenly distributed onto the garage ceiling — heavy-duty steel, four wire ropes wound by a gear box and axle, safety lock against unintended movement. Hand-crank it, or run it with your own drill. Fits 12″, 16″, or 24″ ceiling joist spacing, which covers most residential garages.
INCLUDED: two adjustable-length lifting straps, two auto-locking carabiners, an 8 mm deep socket, and a 3/8″ drill adapter.
Installation Tips
Things worth knowing before you start:
- Plan ceiling supports and parking location carefully. Leave space to walk around the vehicle.
- Mark the parking spot on the floor with masking tape for repeatable alignment.
- The cardboard template is a rough guide. Use a stud finder. Anchor into solid wood.
- Before the first tent lift, give the cables a firm tug to confirm support.
